BLOG 4

i think that in the future existing social media websites will continue to grow and start trying to capture the older populations attention with easy to use programs and less complicated concepts that younger generations grew up with and are use to. i think in the future it will be possible for people tp have 3D didgital holograms of themselves where they can pop up and walk around the room whereever you are and have the computer base to support the system, this will bring so many people together no matter how far they are making it seem they are litterally in the room but miles and miles away.

Do you think that social media has the potential to bring about real social change?

I agree with Malcom Gladwell and his argument, people can not creat a network amoung themselves that has a strong fondation for a cause unless are are actually connected with eachother and know everyone first hand to make a strong interactive community. People wont feel actually connected to one and other if they cant personally relate first hand. although people can connect over the internet, its not the same as first hand information and interaction.

BLOG POSTING #2 quality of news

Social media has definitely increased the amount news coverage but as far as the quality of the new goes it’s dropped quite a bit. So many unnecessary stories are covered on the news about nothing worth hearing. Celebrity, tweets, or posts become more mainstream news than actual informing report in your local cities and areas like murders, car crashes and what roads are closed for the holidays. People have become more concerned about everything outside their own communities and cities and for that the quality of news has diminished a fair amount when it comes to the quality of news coverage and stories that are being broadcasted and prioritizing things that really have no significant impact on anyone in the city or community. People need to become less concerned about things that don’t matter. Things that they might find interesting might not necessarily mean that they are important things to deliver in the news or front pages of news papers.

What is your perception of social media, do you think it is a fad or the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution?

Social media is one of the biggest shifts since the industrial revolution. Social media has one of the biggest impacts on people in the modern world, especially generation X and Y, the younger population. Social media has become a large part of people’s lives, and how they connect and interact with each other. I feel so many people have been so drawn into the social media aspect of things, and at times escape reality from how they act online rather than in reality and real life. Social media has become somewhat of an addiction, and necessity to people’s lives...
Cell phone usage has increased dramatically due to the increase of the “smart phone” technology; this has allowed people to be connected 24 hours a day 7 days a week, yearly. People can always stay connected ether through phone or the internet. The advancement in technology has allowed social media to evolve into more than just a way to connect with people but also has become a main source of communication and networking. From your average every day person to small and large business, they both are connected through social media such as a Facebook page, or twitter account.

Social media is taking over the world and will continue to grow and evolve into the main source of communication, if it isn’t already.
